Udhaar and customer credit tracking built into your billing
Selling on credit is how neighbourhood shops keep regular customers. RathTech Billing POS records every udhaar sale against the customer, so you never rely on memory or a torn notebook again.
The problem with notebook udhaar
In most local shops the credit register is a notebook behind the counter. It works until a page is lost, a figure is smudged, a family member writes an entry in a different style, or you simply cannot remember whether Mr Kumar settled last Diwali's balance. Disputes with regular customers are awkward and expensive, and the shop owner is the only person who can answer, which means you cannot leave the counter.
Credit tracking inside the billing software fixes this at the source. The credit is recorded at the moment of the sale, by the same bill, with the same date and items. There is nothing to copy across later and nothing to forget.
How udhaar works in RathTech Billing POS
- Add the customer once in the Customers directory with their name and phone number.
- At the counter, build the bill as usual and choose Credit as the payment method, selecting the customer.
- The bill amount is added to that customer's outstanding due and the bill is saved with full item details.
- When the customer pays, open their record and settle the due in full or in part. Partial payments reduce the balance and are recorded.
See who owes what in seconds
The Customers screen shows each regular's purchase history and their current outstanding balance, so you can answer "how much do I owe?" at the counter without hunting through pages. Because every credit sale is a real saved bill, you can open the exact bill behind any amount, with the items and the date, and reprint it if the customer wants to see it.
Keep goodwill, keep control
- Know each customer's balance before you agree to add more credit.
- Staff cannot quietly edit history: cancelling a bill or deleting records needs the right role, and an activity log shows who did what.
- Deleting a customer by mistake does not break old bills. Each sale keeps its own record of the details at the time.
- Everything is stored on your own PC and backed up with one click, so the credit book cannot be lost with a notebook.
A day in the life of a credit sale
Priya, a regular, picks up groceries worth a few hundred rupees and says she will pay at the end of the week. The cashier scans the items, selects Priya as the customer, chooses Credit and presses F4. The bill prints, stock drops, and Priya's balance rises by the bill amount. On Saturday she pays part of it. You open her record, enter the amount, and the outstanding figure falls. At any point, her page shows exactly what she bought and what she still owes.
Pair it with reminders you do yourself
RathTech Billing POS does not send automatic payment reminders. What it gives you is an accurate list of balances and phone numbers, so a polite call or WhatsApp message to the right person is easy. For a practical routine, read our guide to tracking udhaar customers.
Credit tracking is available in every plan alongside offline billing and inventory management. There are no feature tiers.
