Receipt printing for thermal printers, Wi-Fi printers and any system printer

A bill is only finished when the customer has it in hand. RathTech Billing POS prints to the printer you already have, and never loses a sale if the printer lets you down.

Printers it works with

Auto-cut and cash-drawer opening are supported where the printer hardware allows them. Hardware varies, so connect your own printer during the free trial and confirm it before you buy additional units.

  • USB or Windows-installed thermal printers, the standard receipt printers at most counters.
  • Network and Wi-Fi thermal printers on your shop network.
  • Any regular system printer through the normal Windows print dialog, including A4 printers for GST invoices.

A sale is never lost if the printer fails

Printers jam, run out of paper and get switched off. In RathTech Billing POS, saving the sale and printing the receipt are separate steps. If the printer is off or out of paper, the sale still completes and is stored normally. Only the print step fails. Once the printer is working you can reprint that exact receipt from Sales History. Your stock and reports are already correct.

Receipt header and footer

In Settings you enter your shop name, address, GST number and a header and footer for the receipt, for example a thank-you line or a return policy. You connect the printer once and the app remembers it. For customers who need a GST invoice, print the A4 tax invoice of the same sale. See GST billing.

A good footer is short and useful: a thank-you, your phone number for returns or queries, and any return window. Because the header and footer are set once in Settings, every receipt at the counter looks the same, whichever staff member is billing.

Choosing a paper width

Thermal receipt rolls come mainly in 58 mm and 80 mm widths. 58 mm printers are compact and cheaper to run. 80 mm printers fit more text per line, which suits longer item names and GST detail. Our short guide, 58mm vs 80mm thermal printers, explains how to choose for your counter.

Reprint, duplicate and share

  • Reprint any past bill from Sales History at any time.
  • Export reports to PDF or Excel, or print them straight to the printer.
  • Print barcode and QR labels for products. See barcode billing.

Troubleshooting a printer that will not print

  • Check power, paper and that the cover is closed fully.
  • Print a Windows test page. If that fails, the problem is the driver or the cable, not the billing app.
  • Confirm the right printer is selected in Settings, especially if more than one is installed.
  • For network printers, check the PC and the printer are on the same network.
  • Remember the bill is already saved; reprint it from Sales History once the printer works.

A quick test plan for your printer

This takes ten minutes and settles most hardware questions before you commit to anything. Everything works offline, as explained in offline billing.

  1. Install your printer's driver in Windows and print a Windows test page.
  2. In Billing POS Settings, select the printer and the paper width.
  3. Create a sample bill and press Complete and Print (F4).
  4. Turn the printer off and complete another bill to confirm the sale still saves, then reprint it from Sales History.
